The Project
Grand Tour of the Castelli Romani is a project born out of the desire to help people rediscover the Castelli Romani and their immense wealth of artistic, natural and enogastronomic heritage, which for centuries have attracted travelers and great minds from all over the world, making the “Colli Albani” a popular Grand Tour destination.
The project has a twofold objective: on the one hand, to place this area again at the center of quality tourism trajectories, both in terms of proximity flows from Rome and by attracting a national and international audience; on the other hand, to restore value to the area through conservation and improvement actions. So that the Castelli Romani can grow through the great love of those who visit and live there today.
The launch event
The launch event for the project was held in November 2023 at Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia, a unique example of a Baroque mansion that has remained unaltered in its architectural, urban planning and landscape context. The evening’s guests were a large parterre of entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives and art collectors who came to the Castelli Romani from all over Italy for the occasion.The event coincided with renewed international interest around Palazzo Chigi: after careful restoration and a full 70 years since the last exhibition, Caravaggio’s painting “The Taking of Christ” from the Ruffo collection was recently unveiled to the public.
